Subject: Urgent Repair of Non-Functional Traffic Signals at Major Intersections in Kochi

Dear Sir/Madam,
I hope this letter finds you in good spirits. I am writing to bring to your immediate attention the critical issue of non-functional traffic signals at several major intersections in Kochi, which has been causing significant disruption and endangering the safety of both motorists and pedestrians.
The traffic signals at the intersections of MG Road with Banerji Road and at Marine Drive have been non-operational for over a month. The absence of working traffic signals has led to increased traffic congestion, confusion, and, most worryingly, a higher risk of accidents in these heavily trafficked areas.
Despite the importance of these intersections in maintaining the flow of traffic within the city, attempts to highlight this issue to the relevant authorities have not resulted in any action or updates on when these essential traffic management tools will be repaired.
Given the urgency of this matter and its impact on public safety, I kindly request the Kochi City Traffic Police to:
1. Expedite the repair and restoration of the traffic signals at the mentioned intersections.
2. Implement temporary traffic management measures to mitigate congestion and reduce the risk of accidents until the traffic signals are fully functional.
3. Conduct a city-wide audit of traffic signals to identify and rectify any similar issues elsewhere, ensuring the safety and efficiency of road use across Kochi.
The proper functioning of traffic signals is fundamental to road safety and the smooth operation of our city’s transport infrastructure. As such, I trust that the Traffic Department will address this issue with the seriousness and promptness it deserves.
