Subject: Urgent Need for Maintenance and Upkeep of Tourist Sites in Goa
Dear Sir/Madam,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to draw your attention to the urgent need for maintenance and upkeep of several popular tourist sites across Goa, which have been neglected and are in a state of disrepair. As a resident and an advocate for sustainable tourism, it’s disheartening to witness the deterioration of these sites, which not only mars the beauty and heritage of our state but also impacts the overall tourist experience negatively.
Issues such as littering, vandalism, and structural damage are prevalent, with little to no effort being made for regular cleaning, restoration, or security. Iconic sites like the Fort Aguada, the Basilica of Bom Jesus, and several beaches, which attract thousands of visitors annually, are particularly affected. This neglect not only undermines the tourism potential of these locations but also poses safety risks to visitors.
The promotion of tourism in Goa should go hand in hand with the preservation of its natural and cultural heritage. Therefore, I urge the Goa Tourism Development Corporation to:
1. Allocate funds specifically for the maintenance, restoration, and regular cleaning of tourist sites.
2. Implement stringent measures to prevent littering and vandalism, including the installation of more waste disposal bins and signage promoting responsible tourism.
3. Enhance security at key tourist sites to protect the integrity of the attractions and ensure the safety of visitors.
4. Engage with local communities and stakeholders in a collaborative effort to preserve and maintain the cleanliness and beauty of these sites.
Investing in the maintenance and preservation of tourist sites is crucial for sustaining Goa’s reputation as a premier travel destination. I trust that the Goa Tourism Development Corporation recognizes the importance of this issue and will take immediate action to address these concerns.
