I am writing to you as a resident of Rosewood Lane, a peaceful community in Dehradun, currently facing significant disturbances due to the excessive noise from public announcements. Over the past few months, our neighborhood has been subjected to an increasing number of loudspeakers used for various announcements, political campaigns, and commercial advertisements, often extending late into the night.
These activities have severely disrupted the tranquility of our residential area, affecting the daily lives and well-being of its inhabitants. The excessive noise levels have particularly impacted students, the elderly, and those working from home, interfering with study, work, and rest periods.
While we understand the need for public communication and community engagement, the current volume and frequency of these announcements are beyond reasonable limits and appear to violate noise pollution regulations. It is essential to strike a balance that respects the rights of residents to a peaceful environment.
Therefore, we kindly request the Dehradun Municipal Corporation to:
1. Enforce existing noise pollution laws more strictly, particularly concerning the use of loudspeakers in residential areas.
2. Implement specific time frames during which public announcements can be made, ensuring they do not occur late at night or early in the morning.
3. Encourage the use of alternative, less intrusive methods of communication for public announcements and advertisements.
4. Organize awareness programs for the community on the impact of noise pollution and the importance of maintaining a quiet residential environment.
We believe that with your support and intervention, we can restore the peace and quiet of our neighborhood, ensuring it remains a conducive place for living, working, and studying.
