Subject: Poor Condition of Public Toilets in Sunshine Colony Area

Dear Sir/Madam,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing on behalf of the residents of Sunshine Colony, Bhubaneswar, to express our concern over the deplorable condition of public toilets in our area. The state of these facilities has been a longstanding issue, but recent months have seen a marked deterioration in their upkeep and hygiene, raising serious health and safety concerns.
The toilets are frequently found to be in an unusable state, with broken doors, non-functional flush systems, and a lack of running water. Additionally, the absence of regular cleaning has led to an accumulation of filth and a persistent foul odor, making these facilities a breeding ground for disease-causing pathogens. This situation not only discourages their use but also compromises the dignity and basic hygiene needs of individuals who have no alternative but to rely on these public amenities.
Despite previous complaints and requests for intervention, there has been no improvement in the maintenance or management of these facilities. As public toilets are essential for sanitation and public health, especially in densely populated urban areas, it is critical that immediate action is taken to address these issues.
We kindly request the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Sanitation Department to:
1. Undertake urgent repairs of the damaged infrastructure in the public toilets, ensuring that all facilities are in good working order.
2. Implement a strict cleaning schedule to maintain hygiene and cleanliness, with regular monitoring to ensure compliance.
3. Consider upgrading these facilities with better ventilation, lighting, and access to running water to enhance their usability and safety.
Access to clean and functional public toilets is a basic urban necessity, and we believe that with the department’s attention and action, significant improvements can be made to benefit the entire community.
